Efforts made by Niigata District to cope with KHV
In Japan, KHV was first found in Ibaragi prefecture in November, 2003.
(because it was a harvest and shipping season for edible carp for new year
season) It spread in Japan, and it was soon found in Niigata, with edible
carp.
In order to cope with this circumstance, Niigata prefecture Fisheries
Office, Niigata prefecture Inlandwater Fisheries Experimental Station and
Niigata Nishikigoi Commitee have been actively cooperating in order to
prevent the disease from spreading.
In Niigata, we had examination systems including both KHV and SVC since
2004. NPA Niigata District has been also cooperated with the local government
for prevention of the diseases.
In April 2004, a "Niigata prefecture rural area farming and fisheries
emergency aid program"for preventing KHV was granted from the local
government. Ten member farms of NPA Niigata district built quarrantine
facilities incorporating with the program.
